At number 8. Hebrides

The scenery and seabird colonies are some of the best in the world, and the crystal clear azure waters support an amazing array of wildlife from lions mane jellyfish to basking sharks and even the occasional leatherback turtle.

In the end we had 4 weeks of drizzle. The highlight for me was surfing the Corryveckan, the world’s second biggest whirlpool, in a big fishing boat and it’s hard not to be thrilled by the sight of an otter popping up 5 meters away!
